Emeritus Professor Sir Rupert Myers

Rupert Myers was a Foundation Member of UNSW International House Ltd incorporated in 1964. There were twenty-five signatories to the Memorandum of Association, including ten from UNSW and the balance from Rotary, commerce and industry. Then a Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Rupert succeeded Sir Philip Baxter as Vice-Chancellor 1969-81. As an ex-officio member of the Board, Rupert rarely missed a meeting and when unable to attend, ensured that a Pro-Vice-Chancellor attended in his place. He remained on the Board for thirteen years and served as Deputy Chairman. Rupert has always been a strong supporter of the Company and the cultural and social vision of the House. As Vice-Chancellor he facilitated bridging financial assistance from the University when the financial resources of the House were inadequate.
